Personal Description:
*CURRENTLY ONLY OFFERING ONLINE MUSIC THEORY / GCSE / A LEVEL LESSONS*
Hello! I'm Alex, a music tutor, singer and pianist based in Leicestershire. With over 15 years of experience as a professional musician, a first class honours degree in Music from King's College London, and a background in full-time teaching, I offer bespoke tuition services for all ages and abilities.
As a classically-trained tenor and professional pianist I am passionate about helping students achieve their performance goals. I've worked as a singer in and around London for the last 8 years, performing at Westminster Abbey, St. Paul's Cathedral and touring with various choirs to North America and Africa. I regularly perform choral and solo music in the Leicestershire area, too.
I am particularly experienced in teaching academic music (Grade 5 theory, Music GCSE), voice and piano. I can provide face-to-face or online tuition to suit you. I've also worked as a full-time English teacher in South Korea for the last 2 years, and so am especially skilled at working with younger children.
Tutoring Experience:
○ Highly skilled tutor well-versed in helping students achieve their goals in piano, singing, clarinet, and academic music. I offer bespoke courses both for students working towards specific goals (like exams), and for those who simply want to learn for pleasure.
○ Experienced (6+ years) tutor of music theory, music GCSE and A level. Students have achieved outstanding results -- Distinctions in their theory and 8s and 9s (A* equivalents) in their GCSEs.
○ Highly skilled in online teaching -- using Zoom, Google Slides, online whiteboards etc, I've taught music theory and music GCSE online for the past 3 years. My students have achieved Distinctions in their theory and 8s and 9s (A* equivalents) in their GCSEs during this time.
○ Recently returned to the UK after two years teaching primary-school English in South Korea.
Tutoring Approach:
I create courses that work for you. I make bespoke lesson plans that are structured around your specific goals.
I know you're busy. Learning an instrument is hard when many instrumental courses are generic and don't take your needs into account. That's why my classes are specific to you. I want to help you make quick progress.
I offer 30-, 45-, and 60-minute lessons. Shorter classes are particularly well-suited to younger students.
○ Want to work towards your next graded exam? No problem.
○ Want to expand your technical skill and make your playing sound more sophisticated? Let's do it!
○ Want to learn more casually — just for fun? Sounds great!
○ Want to feel more confident when performing? I can help.
○ Want to focus on theory or academic music? I’ll help you achieve exceptional results.
