Information About Alasdair - Edinburgh teacher

Personal Description:

Hello! My name is Alasdair and I'm a professional composer, educator and guitarist. I love to teach and I feel lucky myself to have had amazing mentors and teachers that have been vital to my development. I've completed a bachelor of music in Contemporary Writing and Production and Guitar Performance from Berklee College of Music, USA and graduated with the highest honours. Outside of teaching, I write music for TV and commercials.

Tutoring Experience:

- Local students I've taught guitar, drums and piano. My first student has reached grade 8 drums.
- Core Music Tutor at Berklee College of Music. College Reading and Learning Association level 2 certified tutor.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching music comes from a place of practicality. I encourage my students to master a few concepts rather than to learn many different ideas and not fully absorb them. I think with the internet and the quantity of ideas easily available it helps to have someone to guide you through what you most need to improve your skills. I like to spend time on the fundamentals of music, particularly rhythm which I think is often underestimated! Whether it be theory and composition, instrumental or production skills you'd like to improve, I'd love to make a plan with you as to how I can help.
