Personal Description:

As a native Greek speaker born and raised in Greece, I offer authentic language instruction rooted in both cultural understanding and academic expertise. Greek is not just a language I teach—it's my mother tongue and cultural heritage. With degrees in archaeology and anthropology, and currently pursuing my PhD at Durham University, I bring a rich cultural and historical context to my language lessons that goes beyond basic vocabulary and grammar.
Having taught in various educational settings, from schools across Durham, Newcastle and Tyne and Wear to university-level courses, I understand how to adapt Greek language instruction to different learning styles and proficiency levels. Whether you're a complete beginner interested in holiday phrases, a student studying Classical Greek texts, or someone connecting with Greek heritage, I create engaging lessons that make this beautiful language accessible.
My approach combines conversational practice with cultural insights, helping students understand not just how to speak Greek, but when and why certain expressions are used. From modern Greek for practical use to the foundations needed for understanding ancient texts, I provide a comprehensive language learning experience that's engaging, practical, and culturally rich.

Teaching Approach:

My Approach
My approach to teaching Greek combines practical language skills with cultural immersion. I believe that understanding a language means more than memorizing vocabulary and grammar rules—it's about grasping how the language functions within its cultural context.
For beginners, I focus on building confidence through conversation, starting with practical phrases and everyday situations. I incorporate authentic materials like Greek music, videos, and texts to develop listening and comprehension skills from day one. Grammar is introduced gradually and naturally, always in the context of real communication.
For intermediate and advanced learners, I tailor lessons to specific goals—whether that's reading ancient texts, conducting business conversations, or deepening cultural fluency. I balance reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities while addressing the specific challenges English speakers face when learning Greek.
Throughout all levels, I integrate cultural elements that bring the language to life—from discussing Greek traditions and customs to exploring how history has shaped modern Greek expressions. My sessions are interactive and adaptable, with plenty of opportunity for practice and feedback. I provide customized resources and activities between lessons to reinforce learning and maintain progress.
Whether you're learning for travel, academics, heritage connections, or personal enrichment, I create a supportive environment where making mistakes is part of the journey and each small success is celebrated. My ultimate goal is not just to teach you Greek words, but to help you think in Greek and understand the worldview embedded in this beautiful language.
