Personal Description:

I am a native Italian speaker and I`ve been living in London (UK) for the last 4 years. I am married to a university lecturer, with whom I have 2 children.
I studied in Italy where I obtained my degree in law and some other qualifications that allow me to teach adults and children some subjects (Italian language for foreign people, Italian law, English for foreign learners).
In Italy I was a solicitor/barrister. There I worked as a solicitor/barrister at first and then for ten years as Chief Officer at a small police station.

Teaching Experience:

Over the last 15 years, I have developed a passion for teaching the Italian language to foreigners (adults and children). I already ran Italian language classes while in my native country, and when I came to the United Kingdom, my dream was to teach this wonderful language to English speaking people who wished to learn it.

So, to realise my dream, I started to teach Italian privately, giving lessons on a one to one basis, to children and adults, or mixed groups.

Actually I teach Italian via skype to some distant students and I really enjoy this way of teaching.
I carry on teaching in person as my main activity.

Teaching Approach:

My lessons are tailored to students ability, skills and purpose.

I have taught all levels of Italian language.
I have had mature students who were registered for Masters degree in Italy and some businessmen interested in learning business and commercial Italian. I have taught teenagers who were doing gcse exams in Italian and some children, sons and daughters from families of Italian origin who didn`t speak Italian at home.
So my teaching experience is quite varied and rich.
I teach Italian by developing written materials according to an individual learner`s needs.

I use materials of different types in order to make each lesson interesting and beneficial, including videos from Italian teaching websites, audio tracks, dictations and games.

Eeach adults lesson is usually divided into two sections: the first section is dedicated to studying some new grammar and the rest is focused on speaking, listening and comprehension exercises to help the student`s proficiency improve day by day.
An important component of the lesson is a "free conversation", where the student tells me what he/she did in the last few days or on special occasions. This conversation allows me and the student to appreciate any progress made by the student and the issues that need to be tackled and improved.
I also run "driven conversations", based on newspapers articles or other writings, obviously in Italian, on different topics. This way my students have the opportunity not only to practise their reading and understanding skills, but also to learn about the Italian culture, politics, state, religion, food, traditions, festivals etc.
I give all my students homework to be done independently, and at every lesson we review it together.

Lessons for children are different, tailored to their age, interests and ability, and developed around drawings, role games, keywords and familiar topics (family, Christmas, friends, food, games).

Before starting any lessons I have a free meeting with the student in order to assess his/her level of proficiency as a speaker of Italian and to understand their aims and objectives in learning Italian.

I can set up courses tailored to specific needs for: schools, companies, organizations, PR and press offices.
