I am Ting, a passionate and creative Mandarin tutor with 19 years classroom teaching exprience.Learning Chinese is a wonderful journey! Teaching Experience:

I possess 4 years teaching experience in a secondary school in Essex, which significantly enhanced my understanding of English language, culture, and the UK education system. During this time, I developed my strong skills in communicating students and collaborating with teachers, while successfully conducting outreach teaching sessions in three other schools, all of which received positive feedback. Additionally, I led a popular culture club for KS3 students and continually advanced my professional skills through observations and CPD training from UCL IOE. I delivered lessons to Year7, Year8 students, Year 10 and Year11 native speakers, Year12 HSK1 students, and for Year12 and Year13 IB Standard students, in which I taught them writing and speaking. My prior experience as an English teacher in China(15 years English teaching ) established a solid foundation for my Mandarin teaching. Teaching both languages has deepened my understanding of language pedagogy.

Teaching Approach:

My motivation is to provide students with the appropriate learning activities and tools, designed to fulfil their emotional, intellectual and social potential. I am very good at language speaking and writing teaching, and I learned and implemented the ACTIONS method, which proved effective in mentoring a Year 10 student who achieved Joint Third Place at the British Council's National Mandarin Speaking Competition in 2021. Afterward, I applied ACTIONS with various teaching methods to assist students in their GCSE Mandarin speaking and writing, leading to a 100% pass rate (grades 9-4) in Mandarin at the sceondary school I worked in 2022, with 65% achieving grades 9-7 in higher-tier speaking exams, for which I provided guidance and support.
