Personal Description:
I'm a native English speaker with a clear voice and neutral accent, from the central region of England. I am an experienced and highly qualified private tutor. My background is in secondary amd primary school English teaching and I have several specialisms.
My family life is rich with connection and support. I am mother to two autistic young women and my partner is autistic. These close family members are faced with various challenges, including ADHD, ADD, dyslexia, depression, anxiety and long term disability through severe illness. Through my help, both children passed the entrance exam for grammar school, which they attended before opting for home education, through which they gained high grades at GCSE, the highest grades in English.
Teaching Experience:
I taught English in primary and secondary schools for nine years. I became a private English tutor in 2009 and began home educating my children in 2015. I have been teaching English as a foreign language online since 2019.
Teaching Approach:
I use real games and real books. I also illustrate on demand! I skilfully identify gaps in learning and understanding and address these in an entertaining and efficient manner. I guide learners with insight, empathy, patience and an energy level appropriate to the individual. My calm yet playful presence makes for enjoyable lessons where the learner feels emotionally safe, seen and heard. I enjoy providing the conditions for enjoyment and productivity needed by each individual, by setting up a supportive environment where learners succeed. People can panic from time to time, because of previous experiences. My reassuring demeanour provides a model of calm and my natural ability to shift gears makes me an excellent problem solver.

I recommend her for any child ,perticularly for those who have English as second language.
Stella used several diagnostic techniques to identify the key areas for improvement. In a relatively short time there was a significant improvement in both his spelling and test/exam results.
As part of the diagnostic process Stella also identified that my son demonstrated mild dyslexia. We have since spoken to his school and he is also receiving additional support from them.
Stella's teaching style is very engaging and she uses a wide range of techniques to enrich the learning process making a real difference.
Stella has also demonstrated her ability to prepare and support a student for their GCSEs.
I would highly recommend Stella.
