Personal Description:

Hi! I am a qualified Brazilian Teacher. I hold a BA (hons) degree in Languages (Portuguese and English). In 2009 I started teaching Portuguese as a foreign language and since then I have dedicated myself to obtaining the best possible results for my students in the teaching-learning process.

Teaching Experience:

Since 2009 I have been teaching Portuguese to adults on a one-to-one basis. I have been teaching from complete beginner to advanced levels and also preparing students for the Celpe-Bras exam in London.

Teaching Approach:

I believe that to learn a language should be an enjoyable process and I always include in my lessons activities related to individual interests of the students. I have a student who enjoys economics and politics, so for him I always find articles related to the subject and he loves it.

My lessons are organised in a way that the student is involved with listening, speaking, reading and writing as all the skills are important. But, if the student asks me to focus more in one particular skill, then I tend to concentrate more on what is of higher importance for the student.

She is flexible and is able to shape the lesson around her students which has really helped me make the most out of every lesson. I really enjoy my Portuguese lessons with her and look forward to it every week!

From Leila (5/5): I've been taking lessons with Solange for 1.5 years now and I can highly recommend her to anyone looking for tailored lessons. She's very flexible in accommodating my needs (I am mostly focusing on my spoken Portuguese) and is always 110% prepared for the lessons. We make each session very 'real', also talking about things I would want to discuss with my Brazilian family (family life, work, politics etc). Also I was her first student asking for Skype lessons pre-COVID lockdown due to health risks and she accepted without hesitation, haven't missed a lessons since.
