Personal Description:

I'm an experienced and enthusiastic English and Portuguese languages tutor, with a great passion for helping my students thrive. I graduated with an English degree from the University of Cambridge, and just completed a Masters of Fine Art in Advanced Theatre Practice at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. I grew up bilingual, speaking both English and Portuguese at home and in school. I was taught in Portugal and England - because of this I have expert knowledge in both subjects and I'm extremely enthusiastic about sharing it with my students.

Teaching Experience:

I began tutoring English (language and literature) and Portuguese prior to my graduation from Cambridge, and since then I have encountered a variety of students, with diverse needs and backgrounds. I am used to teaching both online and in person. Complementary to tutoring, I have experience as a house manager, workshop leader and activities organiser in summer schools that teach English as a foreign language (Studio Cambridge Languages School and Jazzitup Kids London). Alongside teaching English an Portuguese, I am an accomplished drama workshop leader and enjoy teaching performing arts. I am a writer and theatre director.

Teaching Approach:

I go to great lengths to ensure I tailor each tutorial to the student's language level and needs, and that adequate study materials are shared in advance of every lesson. I am a believer that learning a language should be engaging and fun, as well as rigorous. I work to both challenge my tutees and help them feel more confident in their abilities. I guide them towards being able to achieve top quality in their communication skills. Lately, I have been working on my digital tutoring skills, through tools such as shared documents and video calling platforms.
