Personal Description:

Welcome to my profile. I am told that I have a very pleasant manner with all those whom I teach, and I was humbled to be described by one head for whom I worked as 'the best teacher I have ever met'. My wife and I are extremely fortunate to live in a 17th century 'chocolate-box' cottage, in a glorious part of Dorset, where the peace and tranquility of a tiny Dorset village are very conducive to learning.

Teaching Experience:

My experience comes from a career that incorporated teaching students at every level, from junior to university level. I taught at prep schools in Ascot, Oxford and Sherborne and in an independent senior school where I was a teacher and housemaster. I was a research fellow at one of Australia's top universities for six years. In various schools I taught French, Latin, English and Music, and I continue to derive great pleasure from tutoring in all of those subjects.

Teaching Approach:

My aim is to that I try to make the subject enjoyable and to combine rigour with a relaxed, but never casual, way. Students of all ages have been very generous in their comments, and I have greatly enjoyed teaching them and helping them to succeed. I believe that confidence is the key to success, and that as a teacher it is my responsibility to try and make a difference.
