Personal Description:
Originally from Moscow, Russia, I've been living in the UK for more than 15 years. I am fluent in English as well as in Russian. I am a Warwick University graduate, where I have obtained my Ph.D. (2011) and undergraduate masters (2006, obtaining a solid 1st at 82% overall). I studied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics and Operational Research as an undergraduate and specialised in Probability Theory as a Ph.D. student.
Teaching Experience:
I have more than 3 years of experience teaching Russian on a one to one basis to children and adults.
I also have extensive teaching experience in other subjects (Mathematics, computing) having taught at a University level for more than 5 years and on a one to one basis for about a year.
Teaching Approach:
Whilst theory (grammar, punctuation, tenses etc.) is certainly very important, I believe the best way to learn a language is to speak and read as much as possible, thus expanding your vocabulary and learning new grammatical constructions first hand. Trying to put theory into practice is the way to better your language skills. However, if you struggle with theory I will be happy to explain any difficult material to you either from scratch or using a textbook of your choice. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

From Luke (/5): I came to Nastasiya with the aim of improving my Russian alongside my university degree. I have found my lessons to be very useful as they have allowed me to work on things which are hard to do at university where there is little 1-1 tuition. I feel like my knowledge of Russian has improved in particular my spoken Russian. I would most certainly recommend Nastasiya as I feel to have learnt a lot within a short space of time.

During the lessons, she is tremendously motivating and always explains any material to my utter satisfaction. Her patience and sense of humour also make her a very pleasant person to work with.

From Julia (/5): Nastasiya helped my daughter to prepare for GCSE. I think she really cares about making a difference. My daughter is gaining a much better grasp on topics that previously seemed hard and complicated. She does explains topics thoroughly. She's a brilliant tutor.

However, I was very impressed with her organisational skills as she wished to have full details of all the topics which I wished to cover and the problems I had encountered in my studies. Therefore she is obviously a very focused and organised tutor whom I am sure would be able to provide excellent tutorials explaining all the required principles. She was prepared to meet me at very short notice to help me with my revision shortly before an exam and therefore seems extremely keen to assist students if at all possible. Whilst I could not meet Nastasiya due to my own schedule I would most certainly recommend her based on my experience.
