Personal Description:

Nǐ hǎo (Hello)

I am a very friendly, patient, supportive and flexible Chinese teacher who is passionate about Chinese language, art and culture and have over 15 years experience in Chinese language teaching.

I have completed my teacher training course at London Confucius Institute and School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. I also hold a PG Certificate in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language at SOAS, University of London and I am currently a PHD candidate in Archaeology and Asian Studies at University of Cambridge.

A qualified UK Chinese teacher who has completed my teacher training course at London Confucius Institute and School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. I also hold a PG Certificate in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language ( SOAS, University of London).

I graduated with 1st class honours degree in BSc Economic from UCL and worked in management consultancy for 3 year after graduating. However I have always passionate about teaching, language and art so I took an one year teaching course in SOAS while I was working and became a language teacher and Chinese art consultant after I obtained my teaching qualification. I am currently a PHD candidate in Archaeology and Asian Studies at University of Cambridge.

Besides teaching and the art world, I enjoy traveling, playing tennis, hiking, cooking, reading, practicing calligraphy and Chinese tea culture.

Teaching Experience:

I have been privately tutoring Mandarin for all age group in Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire and London since 2004.

I am very experienced in tutoring for both children and adults at all levels.

For Adult: Causal, Travel or Leisure ,Business Chinese, Social and Cultural Studies Chinese, University HSK Chinese etc.

For whom is taking Mandarin in GCSE; IGCSE; Edexcel A Levels; Cambridge Pre-U; IB etc.

All my GCSE students have achieved A* in both GCSE and IGCSE Chinese in the past ten years. Most of my A-Level students achieved A in their A Level (Edexcel) Chinese. I have helped a number of university students achieved scholarships to study Chinese at both National Taiwan Normal University and Beijing Foreign Language University.

I have privately taught a considerable number of students from Eton College, Cheltenham Ladies College, St Paul's School, St Paul's School for Girls, Godolphin & Latymerfor and Harrow School in preparation for their GCSE/IGCSE, A Level, IB and Cambridge Pre U Chinese, all students achieved A*.

Very familiar with the required syllabus and criteria, I’m efficient to prepare GCSE, IGCSE, A Level, Cambridge Pre- U, IB and University Degree exams, My exam focused/revision class has helped a number of university students achieved amazing results in their university exams, including students from University of Oxford, University of Nottingham and Leeds University.

I also have 9 years experience of teaching students with special needs.

Teaching Approach:

I don not only teach Chinese language itself, but also the cultural background and customs in order for students to communicate effectively and easily in Chinese. I appreciate that different individual has a different leaning needs and way of learning. Therefore, I have a flexible approach and design different instructional strategies to meet the unique needs of each student. I will help my students developing their language skills in four aspects: listening, speaking, reading and writing.

For kids, My interesting lesson will help children learn Chinese via discussing fun topics, games, CD, songs, rhymes, poems and festival activities are incorporated in the lessons.

I try my best to help my student to achieve their learning goal and enjoy the lesson at the same time. My student always feel free to contact me whenever they have any questions about Mandarin or Chinese culture. I was called the BEST Chinese teacher by my students and their parents.
