Information About Maxime - Glasgow teacher

Personal Description:

I'm 31 and I've been living in Glasgow for 7 years. I was supposed to stay for only a year but fell in love with the country and its people.
I teach French and Spanish, I also do English-> French translation. Outside of the classroom (or my desk in lockdown!), I love to spend time with my friends from all over the world while playing intense volleyball!

Teaching Experience:

I have been doing private tutoring for over 10 years now, in France first and in Glasgow since 2014. My teaching experience is pretty extensive as I worked with kids aged 4-17, as well as older adults in care homes or community centres, aged up to 97! Since 2017, I also do regular classes for anyone!
I have experience in teaching French with specific objectives (professional, personal, studies).

I obviously always adapt to the student's best interest.

Teaching Approach:

I believe having fun during the learning process helps a lot! I prefer a non-stuffy approach when applicable. Of course, French and Spanish require some by-heart learning when it comes to verbs for example but I always keep track of the student's progress and make sure to build up vocabulary and confidence every session.

Repetition makes things perfect, so does practice. The first 10/15 minutes are always dedicated to review what was studied previously. It is important to get the student to manipulate vocabulary or grammar structures in a challenging but rewarding way.

Finally, I always try to keep the right balance between grammar, vocabulary, culture and tips for the holidays! But that balance is dictated by the student's needs and preferences.
