Personal Description:
My name is María. I'm a teacher from northern Spain based in High Wycombe. I moved to England in 2015. I work part time in a language school.
Teaching Experience:
After leaving University, I worked as a supply teacher in Secondary Schools and in adult learning, and I enjoy both experiences. I feel confident teaching small groups and individual lessons, children and adults.
I have been helping students prepare their GCSE, AS and A Levels for three years.
Teaching Approach:
I always try to adapt my lessons to students' needs and interests. However, all my lessons have in common the focus on developing real communication skills. After a few weeks every student is able to have small and simple talks. I believe in student-centered learning, so students will gain confidence.

MaríaFrom Rowan (5/5): I've been learning Spanish with María for several months now as an adult beginner and have made significantly more progress than trying to learn independently. The lessons are varied, cover all aspects of learning a language and follow the CEFR; María also provided extra resources such as audio clips, additional exercises, and the expertise of a native speaker to help understand common expressions/slang that aren't taught in a traditional course. María has been incredibly flexible around my schedule and I highly recommend learning with María at any competency level.

From Janette (/5): Maria quickly established where my son needed to focus. She makes the most of her sessions - wasting no time and getting straight down to tutoring. My son's confidence increased very quickly as he saw a path to improvement and withinn a month, his school work was showing a marked improvement. The fact that she is a native Spanish speaker is an advantage as it has helped my son to tune in to the language. Maria is reliable, flexible and responds quickly to emails.

She is encouraging, builds up your self-esteem with languages, and is friendly and patient. I enjoy being taught by Maria and will look to take a Spanish GCSE in the not too distant future.

From Carolyn (/5): Maria was great, followed a wide variety of subjects using different activities and she was very much appreciated by her students who only had positive things to say about her classes. If we come back to Chalfont St Giles and need a Spanish teacher again, I would have no hesitation in contacting her and asking her to come and teach for us. She's a lovely lady too.
