Personal Description:

Hello, I'm Marcus, a teacher of English, French, Russian and chess from Epsom in Surrey, UK.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching both kids and adults in Moscow, both in a class and on a one-to-one basis, as well as on Skype. I have always found Skype to be an excellent tool for teaching, as this cuts out travelling for both student and teacher. In my experience, online lessons are very similar to how they are if taught in person.

Teaching Approach:

I am an analytical teacher with a friendly attitude which tends to suit children very well. I believe that encouragement, repetition of difficult areas and perseverance are absolutely essential for improvement.
I like to employ a patient approach. I take a lot of pride in making sure my clients enjoy lessons whilst they improve, as I want other people to enjoy speaking foreign languages as much as I do! I was lucky to have a charismatic French teacher at school, and this made me realise the importance of having a teacher with a positive personality, and how this can have a long-term impact upon grades. In the end, I ended up with an A* in French at GCSE and an A at A-level, before deciding to study it along with Russian at university.
