Personal Description:

I am a friendly, fully qualified Primary School teacher and a native English speaker from the North of England. My teaching journey began overseas, where I first discovered my passion for education by teaching English abroad, before returning to the UK to build a decade-long career in the classroom. This diverse background means I am just as comfortable supporting a child with their SATs as I am helping an international student master conversational English. I pride myself on being approachable and "down to earth," using my experience to help students of all backgrounds feel confident and supported in their learning.

Teaching Experience:

I hold full UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have over 10 years of experience. My career started with teaching English as a Foreign Language internationally, which gave me a strong foundation in language acquisition. I then transitioned into UK primary schools, specialising in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. While my focus is on primary education (Years 1–6), I also have extensive experience working with SEND students, adapting my lessons to support diverse needs such as autism, ADHD, and processing difficulties. This combination of EFL and mainstream classroom experience allows me to offer expert support in Literacy, Phonics, and general primary curriculum support.

Teaching Approach:

My teaching philosophy is built on "high support, high challenge." I believe that confidence is the key to learning; once a student feels safe to make mistakes, they begin to make rapid progress. My lessons are bespoke—I do not use generic scripts. Instead, I identify exactly where the student's gaps are and tailor my planning to close them. I use clear, concise instruction and regular concept checking to ensure understanding before moving on. For younger learners, I use visual aids and interactive tasks to keep engagement high, while for adult learners, I focus on practical, real-world usage to ensure immediate relevance.
