Personal Description:

Hi! I'm Kate, a full-time, professional tutor based in Petersfield (MA in Medieval and Modern Languages from St John's College, Oxford). I offer private tuition and intensive course programmes for those looking to learn quickly and build fluency in Spanish, German, English, Portuguese, Italian, French, Catalan and Dutch.

I also offer conversation classes, one-off study sessions and regular support for GCSE, A-level and beyond.

I run complete language courses for A-level so you can enter for the qualification with me, or have extra tuition to support your work at school or college.

My lessons take place online via Zoom.

Teaching Experience:

I started my teaching career in 2008 with the Government of Andorra, where I held the post of Lecturer of English.

Since then, I have taught privately and at colleges in several European countries: Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal and Italy, and have mostly lived in Spain since 2009.

In 2019 I opened a language school in Petersfield and I now run an online A Level academy with a mix of students learning for professional, academic and personal goals.

Teaching Approach:

Each course is 100% bespoke and personalised to the needs of the student.

Your course is designed for you, based on a short questionnaire and/or initial consultation to set clear goals for you and help me to understand your learning style.

Lessons often feel relaxed and fairly casual, because in my experience this is absolutely the best way to encourage real communication and thought in the target language!

For more advanced learners, there are plenty of academic resources and authentic materials to allow you to engage fully with your language. Courses can include grammar, linguistics, literature and cultural topics.

No matter what your level, your lessons will be full of real-world language and will deliver the content and vocabulary that you need to achieve your goals.

Kate consistently went the extra mile to make sure my daughter had all the resources (and confidence) she needed, including writing everything down and even recording phrases so she could listen back to them. Thanks to Kate, my daughter's GCSE Spanish oral went really well and most importantly she found a new love for speaking Spanish and could finally see the value in learning a language - miraculous! We couldn't recommend Kate more, she was everything we needed and more.

Kate has been so friendly and helpful. She checks that everything is okay and determines what my daughter needs. Fromm day 1 it was clear that Kate is amazingly organised and that she goes out of her way to find appropriate resources for whatever is needed. Having someone for him to speak and read Italian with weekly has been an immense help, given him a lot of confidence and means he can enjoy this subject.
