Personal Description:

I have over twenty-five years’ experience in English language teaching and teacher training. I have taught all levels of learner from elementary (A2) to proficiency (C2) and have extensive experience in exam preparation (Cambridge B1 Preliminary, B2 First, C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency, Cambridge Business English Exams and IELTS).
As teacher trainer, I have been responsible for delivering Cambridge English language teaching qualifications including Cambridge CELTA, ICELT and TKT.
I have taught both monolingual and multilingual classes in the UK, Spain and Turkey.

Teaching Approach:

My approach to English language teaching centres on a communicative approach, prioritising real-life interactions and meaningful exchanges that allow students to build practical language skills. This method emphasises the development of the four core skills – speaking, listening, reading, and writing – as each skill plays a crucial role in fostering well-rounded communicative competence, while at the same time increasing understanding of grammatical structures and expanding vocabulary range. I encourage students to engage actively in the learning process and use their English in authentic contexts to develop both fluency and confidence. Alongside this, I stress the importance of cultural awareness, understanding that effective communication is not solely about language proficiency but also about sensitivity to cultural differences. By integrating cross-cultural insights into language lessons, I help students appreciate nuances in communication styles, enabling them to interact more effectively and respectfully in diverse contexts when using English.
