Information About Julian - Nottingham teacher

Personal Description:

I am a well-liked individual and am friendly, personable, lively and engaging. I have many friends (& contacts) with similar interests to mine : I play the guitar and sing (-and intend to learn the flute). I play my own songs, love improvising music with others, and also play other people's songs… I enjoy humour, and love acting (I am a member of the post-graduate group at the New Theatre at Nottingham University).
I love travel - other cultures interest me a lot, and I like warm, sunny regions of the world.
I feel I am well-rounded, well-balanced person, and can relate well to many different kinds of people.

Teaching Experience:

I worked at Nottingham Trent University (International College) for 5 years (2009-2013), which focused on all aspects of English -especially academic; as well as teaching study Skills for University. I also undertook tutorials there.
I have worked at ILS in Nottingham on a part-time basis, -both currently and also in the Summer of 2013.
I have also had several private students over the years on one-to-one, somewhat informal basis.

Teaching Approach:

My approach is versatile - I tune-in to what the student wants and am very student-centred. I use my intuition sometimes in how to connect with the student and how s/he learns, and can try more than one-approach.
As a teacher, I am quite dynamic/energetic, but also have a patience and a very supportive attitude.
Ultimately, I want the student him/herself to be able to stand on their own two feet, and I am particularly uselful I believe when the student is very self-motivated.
My manner is friendly and personable.
