Teaching Approach:

My sessions follow a planned scheme of work suited for the qualification/aim the tutees are seeking, tailored to their needs. I also encourage tutees to engage in out-of-lessons reading, writing, and online practice. I follow a philosophy where any subject is accessible to anyone, so that I am committed to work with every tutee whether they are new to the language or already have some experience.

Language sessions will include reading, writing, pronunciation and speaking, listening, literature and culture, and of course lots of grammar and vocabulary! We will discuss whether you prefer the session should be entirely in the new language. For long term tutees, sessions will take a linear progression from foundation to more advanced, to check that all basic knowledge and understanding of the language is covered and well retained.
For young children, sessions will include learning through song and stories to develop love for the new language.
Tutees that have some experience in the target language will typically complete an initial assessment test, so the lessons can be pitched at the right level.

My preferred teaching methods include learning through song, role-play, repetition (I try to make it interesting by giving it a twist), learning from questions, verbal story-inventing games, test practice, real-life application, and lecturing.

I have a very patient approach yet challenging my students to achieve better and better. My tutees would describe me as organised, hard-working, punctual, approachable, encouraging, inspiring, supporting, flexible, and celebrating their every success.

I feel Joana will change the way she feels about learning a new language and this will be reflected in her results. Would highly recommend!
