Personal Description:

Hello all! I am a Malaysian native Mandarin speaker with good command in English. I have been living in the UK for the past 5 years. I am very passionate about the Chinese language since young. I enjoy teaching, and I am always excited to make Chinese language fun and interesting for everyone!

Apart from learning Chinese in school, I have been participating in various Chinese public speaking and storytelling competitions since primary school. I was also actively involved in International and National Chinese Debating Competition in high school and was awarded Champion and the best Chinese debater.

I am a law graduate from King’s College London and recently completed my Bar Professional Training Course. Nevertheless, I have various work experiences, including working as a Chinese tutor, translator, and tour guide. I also attended summer school at Shanghai Fudan University and was further exposed to bilingual cultural exchange activities. I am more than happy to share my experience and discuss it if you are interested in Chinese culture!

Teaching Experience:

I have various teaching experience throughout the last 8 years. In Malaysia, I worked as a Mandarin Pin Yin tutor for primary school children from a diverse background. I am also an experienced Chinese debating coach and have been coaching high school students for several years. I also worked as an English debating mentor in a primary school in London.

In addition to my teaching and coaching experiences, I also have various work experiences in the UK that require my Chinese language skill in a professional context—for example, working as a Chinese translator, tour guide, and university ambassador. I am actively involved in the Chinese community in the UK, including providing free legal advice to the Chinese Community in Mandarin and networking with other Chinese professionals in the UK.

Teaching Approach:

I believe that the tutor's attitude is the most crucial factor to develop a conducive learning environment for everyone. Because of my passion for the Chinese language, I am enthusiastic and keen to cultivate your passion for learning. I am also dedicated to helping you by finding the resources and methods that suit you most.

My teaching method and the content of the sessions very much depends on your level, goals and learning styles. I usually discuss and understand more about you during the first session so that I can help you learn better. I am also a firm believer that creative and interactive teaching makes learning more exciting and effective. Therefore, I do not solely rely on textbooks. I usually design my class with games, stories, short dialogues and even short videos!
