Personal Description:

With over 32 years of teaching experience, I have honed my skills in tutoring students for GCSE German and French and A Level German. I specialise in preparing students for all aspects of exams and have a proven track record of achieving excellent results across all levels. My success stems from my ability to ascertain what a student wants/needs to work on and then carefully planning sessions tailored to each student's individual needs. I'm available to tutor for GCSE, iGCSE German and French as well as A Level German, and am familiar with all exam boards' requirements.

Teaching Experience:

I spent more than three decades teaching German and French to students between the ages of 11 and 18 in four different schools. My passion has always been to help students improve their language skills and I particularly enjoy teaching GCSE and A level students. In my last school I was Head of Languages and lead professional coach. I am familiar with what exam boards seek from students, enabling them to reach their highest potential in GCSE and A Level. My private tutoring students have consistently achieved high grades and I have received positive feedback from both students and their parents on my expertise and experience. My tutees have found learning from me enjoyable, and I have helped them feel more confident and motivated to succeed.

Teaching Approach:

I have an encouraging and direct tutoring approach and use a variety of techniques for effective learning
As a tutor, I guide and coach students towards self-improvement and independence. I take time to assess their strengths and weaknesses, and work with them to enhance their knowledge, skills and confidence. I also take into account their unique learning style and preferences to ensure that we work well together, that their needs are catered to and that each session is productive .
I recognise the importance of grammar and ensure that students have a solid understanding of it, as it is crucial for achieving good grades and using the language independently.
Throughout sessions and between sessions, I monitor a student's progress and understanding to ensure that progress is being made.
I also provide guidance on study skills and exam techniques, including essay writing, translation, and how to develop good answers for the oral exam.
For A Level German I specialise in teaching Literature and Film for the Writing paper.
My overall approach is firm but fair, ensuring that students receive the support they need to succeed and making sure that tutoring is having the desired impact.
