Personal Description:
I am an ex-academic with a passion for teaching. I love helping students achieve their best – it is so rewarding to see them improve and to make sure it's fun and interesting along the way.
Teaching Experience:
I have been tutoring for 21 years. My other teaching experience includes lecturing and supervising at Cambridge and volunteering to teach English in South America.

Teaching Approach:
I believe in making lessons fun and the language learned relevant to the individual students' needs. Practical use of the target language is central from the start, making it a real tool for communication, which is great for overcoming initial shyness. Alongside this practical approach, I help you become comfortable with grammar topics so that you can use them as the building blocks of confident, fluid communication.
I work with students to find the learning style which works best for them, and design lessons and courses around their interests. I am particularly good at helping anxious students learn how to minimise the impact of stress on their learning.

HazelFrom Pippa (5/5): Hazel is lovely, really accommodating and so accomplished, I’m surprised she ever found the time to eat and sleep! My son is very shy but in just one session, he has said he feels more hopeful about school and his end of year exams and that’s all I wanted really! Definitely check out her website if you’re unsure but I would absolutely recommend her!

From Roger (/5): I am happy to leave feedback as requested by First Tutors. Distance learning is never going to be easy but the one hour a week on Skype seems to be working. There is a significant advantage with one-to-one tuition in that any group will tend to work at the pace of the slowest learner. You are very good at recognising what works for an individual and, although I sometimes find it quite hard work at times since I have many other things going on in my life at present, I think I am already making progress after three lessons. I am finding the pronunciation rather tricky at times and worry that I will make a fool of myself. I suppose this will improve with time. I am conscious of my limitations and your patience. When you return to UK it would be good to meet face to face at least once. In the meantime, ate logo. Roger
