Personal Description:
Having been brought up multi-lingually and with family in several different countries around the world, I have an authentic connection with different languages and cultures. I am passionate about languages and am keen to help others to progress either as a personal interest or with the aim of passing exams.
Teaching Experience:
I have over 25 years of experience in teaching children and adults, both on a one-to-one and group basis. I am DBS checked and have numerous qualifications in language studies and a Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and a Masters in Teaching Foreign Languages. Furthermore, my professional development continues through attendance at courses updating on didactical methods, as well as placements in schools abroad to share best practice and keep up-to-date with changes in the language.
Teaching Approach:
I would describe my service as professional, flexible and friendly offering students

From alison (/5): Fiona has been an exceptional tutor, she was specifically helping my daughter with her French oral GCSE exam. The tutorials were conducted using Skype which worked extremely well. Fiona was always punctual and well prepared for the tutorial. She helped with pronunciation and sentence construction and shared additional practice aids.
Fiona was very kind and patient and quick to establish a great rapport. She was great at encouraging confidence and I would highly recommend her as a tutor.

She has put my daughter at ease with her friendly manner, My daughter's confidence in the German language has increased due to the help she has received from Fiona. The tutoring is helping to support her learning at school for her German GCSE.

Fiona has made lessons fun but also interesting. I never thought I would be chatting in German so quickly nor whilst feeling so relaxed. She has a great coaching method and is very encouraging… whilst highlighting areas for improvement. Cannot recommend her highly enough!

She has been very accommodating in her approach to me during a period of difficulty with transport due to a broken foot which was very helpful. She allows my son flexibility in what is covered from school work to useful phrases for a short holiday we had in France. Too soon to say if exam results will improve but he is enjoying French again after becoming disengaged at school so he and I are both happy.
