Personal Description:

My name is Elsie and I'm a graduate of Linguistics and Scandinavian studies at Edinburgh University. I'm passionate about language learning and I look forward to helping with your understanding of the innerworkings of the language and how you can improve your speaking.

Teaching Experience:

I have had experience with tutoring Swedish while I was stil studying in Edinburgh as I was privileged to teach someone equally passionate about learning Swedish, helping me alongside my studies, and to see within months how quickly his speaking had improved.

Teaching Approach:

My approach to teaching is one that takes into careful consideration the importance of individual learning style and how best to memorise vocabulary and important speech sounds, with the use of my background in linguistics. This has the overall aim of improving clear and effective speech in the target language. I focus on creating a space for creativity as a means for learning to effectively express more abstract ideas. Using the knowledge of their native language, I can more accurately compare and cross-reference when it comes to points of grammar and accuracy in a way that is more intuitive.
