Information About Delia - Manchester teacher

Personal Description:

Hola! Hi there! I am a native Spanish speaker who is currently studying Modern languages at university in Manchester. One of my passions are languages, travelling and exploring other cultures.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for five years now. I could say that I have taught different ages from little ones (aged 6) to grown-ups (aged 25, 30, 34… ). I have also taught teenagers. As ages differed, so did their needs. While children only needed help with English, Maths, or science homework, other teenagers really needed to get a good base of the English language to pass their exams. I have also had students whose needs were very specific and they only wanted to focus on their speaking skills or translation. I have also helped several students achieve their First Certificate by Cambridge. The most exciting thing for me happened when I started teaching my own language - Spanish- it was so much fun and my students could learn a lot.

Teaching Approach:

The more fun the student has, the better they understand things. That's my main goal. Besides, I always like to be flexible and go for the students'’ needs. If the student wanted to cover all the skills, then we would work on different skills in the same lesson as it keeps it more dynamic and less boring. I like to keep things real, I mean; languages are in constant change, therefore you need to stay updated to the latest idioms or words that are said in the street. I believe that there’'s no point in knowing by heart all the rules and vocabulary that are on the book if then a student speaks to a native speaker in the street and he/she does not understand a word. In order to achieve this, I like providing current materials from YouTube, tv, radio, series, etc
