Personal Description:
I was born and raised in Paris and I have been living in the UK since 2003. I started speaking English at the age of seven, studied English, Latin, and Russian at school. I teach French, English and Italian. I'm passionate about languages and the language learning process.
I specialise in teaching young adult (A-Level) and adult learners. My task is to adapt to their interests and needs, to create classes they not only enjoy, but which give them confidence to express themselves in a new language.
I use a wide range of methods, books and supports (videos, films, podcasts, websites, among others) to make the class engaging and give a break from grammar. I provide a list of reference books and links and, where necessary, detailed teaching programmes. If they are passionate about cars or wines, our lessons will revolve around those topics. If they love movies, I will encourage them to watch movies and read movie magazines in the language they're learning, because it means half the work is done already in terms of comprehension.
I always start by explaining what language learning means and the key differences between the mother tongue and the language they're studying, because I believe my students need to understand the logic of a language to study it. I focus in equal measure on all four skills - speaking, listening, reading and writing - to ensure an even and more effective learning process.
What I enjoy the most is what I call the ‘light-bulb moments’, when students speak, forgetting the fact that they're using a different language and, floored by the realisation a couple of sentences later, break into a huge grin. I teach to empower my students with language and make them independent, confident speakers. Nothing makes me happier than to see them speak confidently in the new language they've worked hard at acquiring.
''Really want to give a shout out to my wonderful French Caroline, who is an exceptional teacher. She understands time pressure and maximises learning to its fullest. Her patient approach and ability to teach at all levels has blown my mind, this is learning but not like you have experienced before!''

''Without any hesitation, Caroline is the best English and French teacher I've ever had. She gives her best to her students. She puts a lot of energy in encouraging them to gain confidence and become independent speakers. She also provides a very detailed and structured programme. I consider myself lucky to have been one of her students.''
Dana Muhader
''Caroline is a truly engaging tutor. Her love for languages and teaching is clearly evident with her enthusiastic and fun method of delivery. After a few failed to learn French since school, she gave me the confidence and belief that I could succeed. Unlike previous tutors, this was not just a job for her, but a vocation! She's always quick to help and respond outside class. Inspirational!''
Clive Sandhurst

''Caroline is a wonderful teacher. I really feel that she works hard to understand me as an individual, how I learn and how to challenge me in a productive way. Lessons are fun and she is an interesting and warm person, who really understands how to teach languages. I would definitely recommend her.''
Lyndsay Roberts
'Caroline has helped me progressed so much through the last year. She's patient and very good at explaining ideas and concepts that I find difficult in a way that makes them much more accessible to me. I always feel comfortable and supported in her lessons and would highly recommend her as a teacher.'
Nuala Arthy
''Caroline makes conversational French accessible. The way she teaches French equips you with the tools you need to get talking almost immediately! Her teaching also gives you a good big-picture sense of the French language, and the rules that govern it, which makes self-study easier. I would highly recommend her as a French tutor.''
Hanna Ziady
''I was part of a small group Caroline tutored in French earlier this year. Caroline has a great focus on getting people talking in French and gaining confidence in the language. Her knowledge of teaching and supporting learners is her greatest attribute. Great empathy with students – highly recommended.''
