Personal Description:

I work in Gaelic education, teaching language classes to adults as well as offering workshops and events on Gaelic songs, folklore and nature. After completing an undergraduate degree in Celtic and a masters degree in Language Policy and Planning, I worked for ten years in Gaelic policy and development. I have since transitioned to educational outreach, as that is what I enjoy most! A fluent Gaelic speaker, I began learning in 2005 when I moved to Scotland from Wisconsin.
Learning Gaelic and getting to know Gaelic culture has enriched my life immeasurably, and I love getting to share this with others!

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching adult Gaelic classes and individual students since 2017. I have experience teaching both online and in person, and I have taught all levels from beginner to advanced.

Teaching Approach:

I equip students with the skills and tools to take ownership of their own learning. I see my role as a guide and a support, introducing a variety of activities to develop different language skills as well as songs, stories and other cultural material, as desired. I strive to tailor tuition to each individual student's needs. I like my sessions to be challenging and enjoyable! I bring a sense of humour to all of my lessons. I work to create a fun, positive, informal environment where students can grow in confidence and comfort with the language.
