Personal Description:

I am a native English speaker with almost 10 years' experience working in communications within central UK Government. I've used expert written and verbal English to create national campaigns reaching millions of people and positively impacting lives. I've also regularly presented to senior UK and international governments and stakeholders.

I am passionate about helping adult English learners, especially those who are based in (or are about to move to) the UK, build their English language confidence so they can actually apply it in their personal and/or professional lives.

I provide a safe and friendly environment for you to practice and improve your skills in the following areas: pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, Business English, Conversational English and British cultural knowledge.

Growing up in a multilingual home with many family members having English as a second language, I have very close experience with supporting and improving their English on a 1-to-1 basis to help them reach their full potential in many aspects of their lives, especially professionally.

I understand that even if you're not studying for a formal language exam, the learning never stops and it's just as important to feel confident applying English in your daily and professional life. As you go about life, you may come up against communication challenges or have questions that are difficult to solve on your own. Having dedicated personal English language support will help you navigate these 10 times faster so you're free to reach your goals quicker. You're not alone!

I have a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and postgraduate qualification in Strategic Communications. I also love writing and languages. In my personal life, I write poetry and have studied French, Spanish, Japanese and Korean. This means I'm very familiar with the journey and challenges faced with language learning.

Teaching Experience:

I've created and delivered a series of English language and British culture sessions for primary school students in South Korea.

Throughout my life, I have regularly supported close relatives who have English as a second language. This includes support with pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary. More formally, I have supported them in applying Business English to items such as, reports, emails, presentations and speeches.

This has given me deep insight into the common challenges and experiences of British English language learning and use as a second language. It also means I have a genuine care for helping to raise people's English language confidence and skill.

In our sessions you will find a supportive, friendly and non-judgemental learning environment.

Teaching Approach:

I teach because I care! My lessons will be tailored to your goals and needs and can be more casual or formal/structured as needed. It's also space and time for you to ask all the language questions you might not feel able to ask elsewhere.

Examples of lesson structures are:

• conversational English sessions to improve your confidence, vocabulary, pronunciation or fluency
• question & answer sessions to answer any language questions you've picked up or to help you understand any confusing language challenges you've experienced in your daily life
• sessions for more insight into British colloquial language and cultural context to help you navigate life in the UK more easily
• sessions to cover specific grammar points
• sessions to better speak or write Business English and to understand the differences between causal and Business English
