Personal Description:
Native Portuguese (European) speaker living in the UK for 20 years. Have taught languages for over 30 years, both in classrooms and private, teaching students 1 hour a week to 6 hours a day for periods of several weeks (crash courses). Will always adjust the course to the student's needs or preferences.
Teaching Experience:
Started teaching in 1980 and taught, non stop, for 18 years, once I moved to the UK stopped teaching for a while, but the bug of language teaching has stayed with me and is now active again.
Teaching Approach:
While teaching a language I do not believe in using any other languages - in my case, I only use Portuguese during classes. I believe in teaching a language like we learned our language - no teaching of grammar, just use the language and the grammar will fall into place. The more the student uses the language the quicker they will find themselves thinking in the new language.
