Hola, I’m Anabel!

I am a Spanish native with Qualified Teacher Status. I am a friendly, fun and experienced Spanish and Catalan teacher with a life long passion for languages and a fascination for other cultures. I have a great enthusiasm for helping my students gain the skills and confidence in speaking Spanish or Catalan. I cover all aspects of language learning and focus on your individual needs to ensure you make excellent progress and achieve your desired level.

I hold a BA (Hons) in Spanish Language and Literature, a Master’s Degree in Teaching Spanish and Catalan as a foreign language and a PGCE (QTS). This has given me a solid foundation with an advanced knowledge and understanding of both the Spanish and Catalan languages. This experience has given me a unique skillset, allowing me to be fully equipped with the best teaching methods. This really helps my students build their confidence, accuracy and fluency from the very first lesson!

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Spanish and Catalan for over 10 years (9 years in the UK). Currently, my main focus is as a private tutor, but I also run some lessons at a local adult learning centre. In addition, I have valuable prior experience working at a university, a primary school and high schools teaching Spanish here in the UK.

I can also prepare you for different targets, level A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 (Year 1, 2, 3 , 4, 5) (always following the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), conversation, GCSE, A-Level and KS3/KS4 Spanish studies. This also includes DELE exams in which I am an official examiner, or for travellers and professionals alike.

Teaching Approach:

Many of my students are able to have basic conversations after just 4 months. Starting with no skills or knowledge, they could understand others and to be understood which is the main goal for most people. The best thing about private tuition is that you learn a lot quicker than in a normal course. The focus is in you, your needs and personal targets. I am happy having a weekly or a fortnightly lesson, one to one or for couples or even small groups at no extra cost per hour.

From Jonathan (5/5): I've had regular lessons once a week with Anabel since late June, 2022. I reached out to Anabel with a specific goal in mind, to prepare for a B1 level DELE exam. I needed a targeted approach and that's exactly what I've received. Anabel has been assessing my speaking, writing, comprehension, reading and listening in Spanish in great detail, providing comprehensive, helpful advice on how to improve. She has given me writing assignments, reading texts, comprehension tasks and more to complete in my own time, she always responds to my completed exercises in good time and with comprehensive, helpful feedback. Anabel is always very easy to get on with, her lessons are engaging and, thanks to her help, I feel I've already learnt a lot in a short space of time. I feel I'm on track preparing for my B1 exam and look forward to more lessons with Anabel. 10/10 tutor.
