Personal Description:

Hello! I'm Alina, an experienced Russian and Italian tutor, based in Winchester, with a specialist degree in MFL teaching. I offer private tuition to learners of all levels and age groups, attaining whichever goals they pursue: academic, professional or personal.
I offer complete GCSE Russian/Italian and A-level courses, as well as prepare for university exams.
I have been always passionate about languages and cultures, and I am eager to infuse my students with this passion, helping them progress and achieve their potential, building their confidence and self-belief. Along with language learning, my students expand their cultural awareness by discovering habits, traditions, artistic and cultural heritage of the countries where the languages I teach are spoken.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching languages since 2003 to both children and adults, of all ages and levels of language competence, privately and at schools/colleges, preparing for GCSE, A-level and University exams.

I focus on keeping my students motivated, optimistic and persevering at the same time. I am familiar with the latest exam specifications and keep myself updated. I love to see my students progress and succeed. In the course of these years, all of my students passed their exams with A and A* grades.

Teaching Approach:

Everyone is different, so my lessons are bespoke and purposefully tailored to my students’ needs, objectives and personal interests: enthusiastic, personalised and fun, with plenty of academic resources and authentic materials to allow you to engage fully with your language.

I always suggest to have an initial consultation to set clear goals and get to know each other.

Lessons are task-based as opposed to just learning lists of vocabulary, which has helped me learn quickly. As well as starting to learn the language, I have gained a better understanding of Russian culture through Alina’s lessons. I highly recommend Alina as a language teacher!

Alina is very organised and well prepared for the lessons, and adapts the lessons toward the individual and to current events which keeps them interesting. From Billy (5/5): Alina is a very patient teacher. I have only recently started taking lessons, but have already learnt quite a few things from her. She is very good at explaining in a way, that does not confuse you. Russian is a challenging language, and I feel that Alina emphasises the fact that learning the language is not intimidating as people usually think, due to the different writing system. I look forward to future lessons. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to learn Russian.

Her preparation is very thorough and her choice of materials and activities are completely appropriate to my needs. She is approachable, encouraging, unselfish and enthusiastic and uses a variety of methods to deliver the content of the lesson.
