Personal Description:
I grew up with early computers such as the ZX Spectrum, and was writing simple programs from the age of five. Thirty years on, I now have 13 years experience working as a programmer in the videogame industry. I've worked on games that have sold millions, including Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, Kinectimals and Kinect Disneyland Adventures.
I am available for individual tuition on:
- GCSE and A-Level Computing / Computer Science
- Degree-level Computer Science
- General purpose programming skills
- Game programming and development
- Web development
- App development
No previous programming experience is necessary. Tuition is available both locally (Newmarket and Cambridge area) and nationally (via Skype or Google Hangouts, using screen sharing).
In 2019 I co-wrote the book "Code the Classics", published by Raspberry Pi Press. I've also written four articles for Wireframe magazine, about game programming.
Training Experience:
I have been tutoring for eight years, during which time I have tutored over 100 students at all levels. I also have a Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
Training Approach:
The approach varies depending on the student and the kind of help needed. Some students may wish to do regular sessions of the same length each time, whereas others may want to work together on a problem for as long as it takes to complete it.
My standard length for a session is 45 minutes, which means that the fee per session will be 3/4 of the hourly rate shown.
