Personal Description:
38 year old novelist, teacher, musician from Scotland, recently returned from teaching English abroad (Italy & Brazil).
I'm rather occupied this year with one teaching job, but should be able to squeeze in a few lessons here and there, especially in the run up to exams and the holidays.
Teaching Experience:
Creative Writing: 2 years Islington Summer University.
Latin/Classical History: 1 year at Academy School, Hampstead. Currently teaching part-time at a Hall Grove preparatory school while finishing second novel.
6 years with Greater London Tutorial Agency/**Contact Detail Removed**
3 years with First Tutors, teaching all levels from beginners, through Common Entrance, GCSE, AS and A-level to university. I've also taught guitar, piano, beginners' French & Spanish.
English as Foreign Language: 1 year St Giles, Sao Paulo, Brazil; 2 years English Academy, Molfetta, Italy, teaching Cambridge exams (KET, PET, CAE, CPE), IELTS, TOEFL and Trinity exams.
Teaching Approach:

There are a million ways to release creativity. Sometimes we simply need exercises and deadlines to push us out of our fear and self-doubt. Other times we need to go back to basics: the hard graft of shaping stories, the craft of structuring, paragraphs, sentences, exploring language and even basic grammar and punctuation.
I've studied (and critiqued) writing teachers of all sorts, Joseph Campbell's Hero theories and Christopher Brooker's Seven Basic Plots. I've taken Arvon Creative writing workshops, worked with Robert McKee, Ken Campbell and Philippe Gaulier. And I've been writing for more than twenty years, from comic sketches at school through award-winning radio plays to my **E-mail Address Removed**

We have had only four lessons so far. We shall carry on the Latin journey with William - we have enjoyed the challenge every week and always look forward to it.
Thanks very much William
