Personal Description:

I’m Valerie **Removed By Admin**an artist and teacher. My inspiration comes from memories of living in Malaysia, Africa the Middle East and now Sussex. I try to always have a notebook with me and to take photographs whilst out and about gathering ideas for my wool paintings, sculptures and accessories. Living in the countryside my focus is the natural world around me. My love of jewellery making is inspired by both my parents, my mother who loved jewellery, whether costume or designed with natural gems and metals and my father a mining engineer and teacher who encouraged me to appreciate the beauty of precious metals and semi-precious minerals

Teaching Experience:

I am an experienced and qualified tutor. I hold a certificate in Adult Education and a BA Hons in Professional Education h Brighton University. I am also qualified to support dyslexic learners. I have taught jewellery making for many years, including in the Middle East, using both semi-precious and man-made beads. I also work with silver and silver-plated findings. I have taught in colleges and within the community. I have also taught felt work having been introduced to this fascinating craft about 12 years ago. Also well as teaching in colleges I also teach art groups, offer private parties to celebrate special occasions

Teaching Approach:

It is important to me that my student enjoys the creative process and feels empowered and proud of their completed creation.
I believe that students should have ownership of their learning journey and particularly with private teaching let them lead the way, choosing their project and setting the space.
Skills and knowledge are gained through both success and correcting our mistakes and practice
