Information About Stephen - Cheam teacher

Personal Description:

An artist and experienced Art teacher with over 3 years experience. My artwork has featured in solo and group exhibitions in London, Devon (my home county) and the Midlands. I lead Art classes for adults, children and young adults with special educational needs. I believe Art can support positive mental health, well being and personal development in all of us. I have a passion for exploration which is evident in my use of materials, my Art subjects and my love of cycling, travel and nature. I most recently combined all three in a tour of Peru. I also run a number of Whisky clubs, leading tastings and combining Art and whisky during group Whisky Art evenings.

Teaching Experience:

A practicing artist and Art teacher with over 30 years experience in teaching and supporting adults, children and students with special educational needs in developing their Art skills across a range of subjects. I have most recently been supporting young adults achieve accreditation at entry level in subjects including ceramics, photography, sculpture, printing, graphic design, painting and drawing. I teach classes and offer individual lessons with an emphasis on self expression and mastery of materials and equipment.

Teaching Approach:

I focus on recognising and developing each students strengths, placing them at the heart of my practice. The best teaching is built upon and harbored by student motivation. My sessions are non prescriptive, but contain a focus which may include the use of particular materials, equipment or approaches. Drawing on the work of established artists is a key component in all my lessons. I am skilled and versatile enough to take what motivates and drives each individual and create a bespoke course tailored to your needs or in order for you to meet your personal goals.
I follow an Intensive Interaction approach, building communication skills and achievement through motivating learning experiences.
