Personal Description:

As well as teaching over the years & selling artworks via exhibition, I have undertaken commissions for portraits of people, animals, transport & houses.

Teaching Experience:

I have been independently running my own art classes in community locations for adults for many years. I have taught a very wide range of art-based subjects including Life Drawing, Portraiture & Printmaking
Previously I have taught at a variety of organisations including colleges & the WEA.

Teaching Approach:

I have a very patient, relaxed & down to earth approach to teaching, working very much at the pace of the learner. I believe in using straight forward language to allow the learner to just focus on the task at hand. Due to my varied artistic background (including airbrush tuition from a medical illustrator & working in a drawing office producing mechanical drawings), I have many practical tips & techniques up my sleeve to pass on, to simplify & enhance approaches wherever possible.

From Chris (5/5): I/we met Sarah for first art tuition today and want to leave some very positive feedback. Our need for art tuition started with an idea following my partner having an operation and understandably loosing some enthusiasm amongst other things for her “hobby” as an amateur artist. The idea was to arrange a surprise art session(s) with a couple of her artist friends to give her a much needed “boost”. The search for a tutor led to contact with First Tutors and then Sarah.

Sarah was extremely helpful and very prompt with an initial exchange of emails leading me to have the confidence to pay the admin fee to enable Sarah’s contact details. From this point on we were able to firm up details leading to today’s session for my partner and two of her friends.

Sarah arrived on time, gave what can only be described as exceptional tuition - clearly very knowledgeable, clear and helpful guidance expanding on the “three students” existing knowledge - all three enthused over lunch afterwards about how much they had enjoyed it, so much so, that two further sessions have been eagerly booked. In summary surpassed all expectations and wishes - A PERFECT DAY. Thank you Sarah.
