Personal Description:
HI, I'm Jason (53) and I have been writing creatively since I was 14. I would not claim to have had any great success, but having dabbled in all written forms (other than poetry) I have a vast amount of experience to offer. Including self-publishing, should that be something you wished to do.
My early work (Man Made the Lightning, Nestling, and Blind Hookey) can be found on most online booksellers. This is not a promotion, because I truly wish I hadn't, at least on that occasion, taken to vanity publishing. My editing having long since improved (which I thank my degree in sociology for). My writing now; more condensed, and I would like to say 'artistic' (probably a quaint way of saying that I don't write for profit)
Since totally completing my first work in 2006 (Blind Hookey) I have never failed to complete a project. This includes a foray into script writing (not as enjoyable)
I personally write fact based historical fiction.
--One free bit of advice that has worked for me--
If you have to keep notes to remember a character, how can you expect that character to stay in the mind of the reader. If they can stay alive in your head, they will come alive on the page.

Teaching Experience:
None
Accept I brought and therefore taught my children as a single parent
Did my English language (GCSE Course) later in life, and was advised by my tutor to get a job teaching such at his college.
I believe doing everything on my own has provided the experience required, to guide writers and steer them away from gimmicks and scams. Whether it be low-cost self-publishing or patenting an invention, I have done it, and succeeded.
Teaching Approach:
I believe in the idea 'write about what you know'
This does not mean that what you know cannot be put on to another plain entirely. It's more a case of keeping as many elements real as possible. However, this can mean dragging up unhappy memories. But in my experience, taking elements from your mind to the page is not only cathartic, but freeing; allowing those creative juices to flow.
