Information About Imogen - Merton teacher

Personal Description:

I am a recent graduate from Manchester School of Art. I aspire to be an art teacher or therapist and my work has been heavily influenced by strong female artists and theory work. To me, art is more than the final product. Finding influences, research and experimentation is just as important to the work (and also will be needed if students are currently studying in school or university). I am a multi-disciplinary artist that works in sculpture, acrylic, drawing, installation and video/digital work.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught children throughout my life ranging from mentoring younger students in Fine Art or photography as well as leading groups around galleries and explaining the work whilst opening up conversations surrounding the work.

During my time at university I was apart of a small group of students who would hold workshop sessions for all ages and each week would be a different medium, periodic time that inspired us or different style of art.

Teaching Approach:

My approach to teaching various for each student. The most important thing to me is to inspire. For so long I thought art was only about painting or photograph like drawings. Art is about expression, fun and conversations. I understand how hard it can be being naturally more creative and dealing with ‘artist block’ or comparing yourself to other artists. For me I aim to encourage and guide individuals in what they are truly passionate about and work together to create work!
