Information About Hannah - Bedford teacher

Personal Description:

I am the Head of Art at Kempston Academy in Bedford, teaching KS3 and GCSE Art and Design. In addition to my teaching job, I have been tutoring for three years.

In 2015 I graduated from the University of Reading with a First Class degree in History of Art. I was then awarded a scholarship to study an MA at the internationally renowned School of Museum Studies at the University of Leicester. I graduated with Distinction in Art Museum and Gallery Studies, and went on to complete an Internship at the Women's Art Collection owned by the University of Cambridge.

Teaching Experience:

I have a BA History of Art, an MA Art Museum and Gallery Studies and a PGCE Secondary Art and Design from UWE Bristol. I am also a qualified TEFL/TESOL tutor. I have experience working in both primary and secondary schools, as well as several museums and art galleries over the past 12 years.

Teaching Approach:

The best educators are subject-specialist leaders. Through knowledge, guidance and trust, they are able to share their expertise with students and install in them a direction and motivation. They are patient, encouraging and support pupils while they pursue their passions in and outside of school. As a subject, Art and History of Art have the potential to develop arguably our most fundamental instincts as human beings, qualities we can benefit from in today's ever evolving world: studying Art through history, and making art ourselves, empowers us through curiosity, develops our critical thinking and gives us an ability to understand our visual world with new insights and perspectives.
