Personal Description:

I am a professional theatre director and actor who has worked across the UK and Europe. As an actor, I trained at leading UK drama school LIPA before working across stage and screen, including musical theatre, new writing, and Shakespeare. As a theatre director, I trained at the Royal Exchange Theatre director's program, and have since worked for leading organisations including the Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre, Buxton Opera House, Royal Exchange Theatre and ThickSkin. Alongside this, I have also led award winning learning and actor training programs.

Teaching Experience:

Over the last 10 years, I have led award winning actor and performance training programs including the Royal Exchange Theatre Young Company, Buxton Opera House Young Company, Buxton Opera House Satellite and Leave No Trace community project. These programs have seen me work with children and adults with a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. Whilst many of these learners have gone on to attend drama schools and achieve professional acting work, I am equally excited to work with people who are simply interested in learning more to improve their confidence, communication, and creativity. I am excited and experienced in a wide range of actor and performance training including:
- how to approach monologues (and find the perfect fit for you!)
- building authentic characters
- vocal technique
- acting through song
- movement and physicality
- approaching Shakespeare

- devising theatre
- scene study
- a wide range of techniques including Stanislavsky, Laban and Improvisation

Teaching Approach:

My teaching approach is dependent on my learner's needs and ambitions. I pride myself on delivering tailored training that is friendly, supportive, and suitably challenging.

In our first session, I will take time to get to know what you want to achieve, and understand more about your learning up to this point. From there, we will delve into a range of techniques and exercises that will expand and strengthen your performance ability. The sessions will be a combination of discussion and practical performance exercises. These will be challenging enough to develop your learning, whilst being carefully structured to ensure you feel supported throughout.

In each hour session we will recap on our previous session and warm up physically and vocally, before spending approx 40 minutes on the main task. We will end each session consolidating our learning. Our sessions should be insightful, inspiring, and fun.
