Personal Description:

I have over 30 years of experience in the accounting world. From being a cashier at the very young age of 16 to currently being a Financial Director of a group of companies at the ripe age of 56. I have seen it all and I have been through it all. Accounting is a language and everyone needs to understand the fundamentals of this language to grasp the lingo in a crowd, a boardroom, while reading about it or even just hearing echoes of it in the office corridor.

Tutoring Experience:

My teaching experience is based on feedback from my staff over many years of coaching them and making sure they understand what they are doing and why. I have assisted a few outsiders as well and the feedback I get is "You should be a tutor" so here I am, ready to share my knowledge.

Tutoring Approach:

How can I help?

A balance sheet or even management accounts can be confusing and so can an income statement and what are the differences between the two. One needs to learn the basics, in layman's terms, no matter what industry you are in. No fancy words, no accounting jargon, just pure one-on-one discussions about how you can look at basic financial terms and understand them.
Even if you don’t have a business but just need an understanding of assets, liabilities, equity, and what on earth is a cash book, a ledger, a journal, a debtor, or a creditor, Input VAT / Output VAT, and how they all work together.
Or even, why is a debtor a credit in the bank and a creditor a debit in the bank,
What is management talking about when they say, “Gross profit (GP) or Net profit (NP) or even NPBT and NPAT” What are the differences between these and how does it show a business’s growth or demise?
What does dividend mean, profit share, shareholding or even retained earnings, and how is it determined or calculated in a business?
Confusing right? …. Wrong !…… it can be self-explanatory as long as you learn the basic language of accounting and I can help.
No question is a stupid question in my ‘books’ Understanding it can be slow or fast, you are in control of your own pace.
