Personal Description:
I believe that everyone has room to grow and I love helping others and seeing them prosper.
I'm currently completing an internship at an architectural firm on the journey to become an architect myself. I believe I'm a creative being and love drawing, painting, photography and baking. I'm willing to help others.
Tutoring Experience:
I tutored students either in the same grade as me or below me when I was in High school. Helped with understanding difficult concepts and exam preparation. (2013-2017)
I have three younger siblings that I've been tutoring for a while now. They are in grade 5, 7 and 12. I help them with their homework, understanding different concepts and help them prepare for the exams. I have helped my younger siblings with their reading and writing when they were younger.
Tutoring Approach:
I understand that every student is different and I find out what works best for every student.
To assist a student I would start by ensuring that they understand that I'm here to help and not to judge so that they can be free to make mistakes and most importantly learn. I'd ask them what they find difficult in the subject and their goals for the subject so that we can work towards something and know what areas to tackle. I'd ask if they have a specific way of studying/learning and what they think works best for them.
To assist the student I would introduce topics using multiple representations. Different representations could include using manipulatives, showing a picture, drawing out the problem, and offering a symbolic representation. We would solve the problems many in ways and have the student communicate his/her reasoning. This is to mention a few things I would do ensure the students understands the concepts and thus will be able to solve the problems/answer questions.
