Personal Description:
My name is Moses, commonly known as Mos, and I am based in Centurion, South Africa. I specialize in tutoring high school mathematics in English and am proficient in five other official South African languages (Sepedi, Sotho, Zulu, Xhosa and Tswana). I hold a 3-year Secondary Teachers' Diploma from Molapo College of Education, as well as a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (Wits).
Tutoring Experience:
I began tutoring mathematics immediately after completing Grade 12, starting at a Technical College where I studied Motor Mechanics from N1 to N3. The course included Engineering Mathematics and I assisted my struggling classmates. After earning my NTC certificates, I enrolled in a teachers' college, where I continued tutoring mathematics and served as the Chairperson of the Math Society. I also taught Mathematics and Science at the high school level for 4 years before pursuing an engineering degree at Wits. While studying engineering, I tutored mathematics at local high schools through an international-sponsored program. To this day, I continue to tutor mathematics, primarily for high school learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12.
Tutoring Approach:
I specialize in helping learners improve their mathematics skills and prepare for exams. My approach begins by guiding learners through key concepts, followed by problem-solving exercises that progress from basic to more advanced, exam-style questions. The materials I use include the prescribed textbook, past test and exam papers, and exam-type exercises from various sources. I emphasize the importance of regular practice, encouraging learners to solve as many problems as possible by studying mathematics every day.
