Personal Description:
I am a student at the University of Cape Town, where I doing my final year in Economics and Finance. I am a hard working and focused individual who has a great passion for teaching and sharing knowledge as I believe this helps shape young minds. I pay close attention to details and I am constantly evaluating myself to ensure I always offer the best possible service. I enjoy hiking and watching sunsets by the beach.
Tutoring Experience:
I have had the honor of tutoring students for the past 7 years. I started tutoring in grade 11 helping out my peers prepare for examinations and my love for teaching grew from there. I worked at JL tutoring in 2017, but then went on to be a tutor for Brightsparkz from 2018 to 2021. I have also been a residence tutor from 2018 to 2021 where I tutored students who lived in my residence multiple courses including Mathematics, Accounting, Economics and Marketing.
Tutoring Approach:
During the first lesson I tend to engage with the student to find out what type of person they are, this helps me understand the best approach is to teaching them. I then set out goals with them, so that by the time we are finished with the sessions we have met our objective. I do a lot of research to have enough content to go through, I explain the content to the learner, we then do practice questions together, finally I let them do their own questions without my helps after which we go through the work. I also tend to leave them with a little work to do alone at home then check on the work during the next session.
