Information About Lelani - Hilton tutor

Personal Description:

I am a very energetic and joyful person and I always look at the bright side of every situation, no matter how big or small. I enjoy working with the youth of today, helping and witnessing them grow into young adults warms my heart. I have always found art interesting, I started drawing from a very young age and I have taught myself how to work with different mediums. I never had the opportunity to learn more about art during my school career, so later in my life I started attending courses to enhance my artistic skills, my favorite mediums are oil pastels, charcoal, graphite and clay sculpture. I tried my best to inform myself about art history, when I started my art modules in university I simply fell in love with it.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching Visual Art to Grades 8 - 12 for almost 3 years at Grace College, an IEB school based in Hilton, Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Tutoring Approach:

I have two blessings: ADD and OCD. Because of this, I understand what most of my students are battling with every day. It also allowed me to mould my teaching approach to accommodate both types of students. I also believe that it is important to have a good relationship with your pupils to gain and maintain the trust of both parties. I do my best to keep things interesting, fun and informative. I tend to use visual examples in my lesson, as I believe that it is important to connect the context to a visual example. I encourage my students to interact with me and the rest of the students during lessons, as I want them to hear, see and communicate the content that I am teaching.
