Information About Laura - Ashton tutor

Personal Description:

I studied at Stellenbosch University and obtained my BSc Human Life Sciences (Biology) in 2011. My subjects included Genetics, Clinical Physiology, Physiology and Biochemistry. In 2012, I completed by Postgraduate Certificate in Education (also from Stellenbosch). I graduated from this course Laude and with the second class position.

My native language is English but I am completely fluent in Afrikaans.

I am currently living abroad in Canada, but would like to continue to support young South African students in my spare time. This is ideal as, due to the time difference, I am readily available for afternoon/evening tutoring sessions SA time.

Tutoring Experience:

I have 6 years experience teaching at a prestigious Girls' School in the Cape Winelands. I am qualified to teach Mathematics (gr.8-12), Natural Sciences(gr.8 and 9), Life Sciences (gr.8-12) and Physical Sciences (gr.10). I have often done private tutoring in one-to-one basis as well as hosting exam preparation workshops for smaller groups.

Tutoring Approach:

I am kind hearted and incredibly patient. I believe in helping a student to truly understand content and never focus on "quick fixes" but rather building good foundations. I am dedicated to helping each unique pupil reach and elevate his/her own potential.
