Personal Description:

I am a highly motivated and goal-oriented individual who is deeply passionate about my work. I possess excellent listening skills and I am extremely patient, which allows me to identify areas of weakness and provide effective solutions. I am adept at working with people of all ages, whether it's one-on-one or in online focus groups. As an educator registered with the South African Council of Educators, and a certified TEFL/ESL teacher, I hold a Bachelor of Social Sciences Honors Degree and a Master of Arts in Development Studies. My qualifications and experience have equipped me with the skills and knowledge to excel in my profession and deliver exceptional results.

Tutoring Experience:

I am a teacher at a local high school in Ermelo, and I have been teaching English language and literature for the past 7 years. During my time as a teacher, I have taught grades 8 - 12 and have maintained a great track record of 100% pass rate with my grade 12 students. Additionally, I offer tutoring services to first-time speakers of English, mostly foreign students from Asia, Europe, and around Africa. I have experience tutoring both in and out of the classroom.

Tutoring Approach:

Based on the different reasons why students require to learn English i alternate between various learning/teaching techniques, i.e (1)The Direct Method where The learner is not allowed to use his or her mother tongue. Grammar rules are avoided and there is emphasis on good pronunciation. (2) Communicative language teaching whereby it enables the learner to communicate effectively and appropriately in the various situations he/she would be likely to find themselves in. (3) Grammar-translation Learning is largely by translation to and from the target language. Grammar rules are to be memorized and long lists of vocabulary learned by heart. There are various other techniques and approaches i use with my students based on their needs and requirements.
