Personal Description:

My name is Jay and I am a 75 year old Indian South African male. I have spent the past 25 years in the education industry and retired in 2014 as Accounting Head of Department at a local high school. Over my years in the industry, I served at various high schools as a Senior Accounting Educator. A few of those years were spent as a Lecturer at a TVET College within the Business Studies Department. Prior to my career in teaching, I was an entrepreneur and turned my love for business and accounting into teachable concepts which resulted in me transitioning into the field of education. From a personal perspective, I am happily married for 52 years, a father of 4 and grandfather of 8. I have a passion for developing others and have been doing so as an educator, father and now, grandfather. I find a great joy in seeing people succeed and feel inspired by enabling others on their journeys. My hobbies include reading, exercising, spending time with family and God.

Tutoring Experience:

I possesses over 25 years’ experience in the education industry. Possessing a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education, I bring both my own training and experience to each student’s life. As a retired veteran, my love for empowering students with the tools for success has kept me firmly rooted within the industry. My tested and perfected approach guarantees a student’s success.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is tailored and sessions are co-created between tutor and student depending on need. I provide support for grade 10, 11, and 12 Accounting syllabus for students planning to write the South African Comprehensive Assessment Institute (SACAI), Department of Basic Education (DBE) and as well as the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) examinations. I aim to equip learners with the necessary tools they need to better their accounting skills both for their current academic year’s needs as well as building life-long principles and understandings of the business world. A carefully curated assessment for every student to determine their entry point on their Accounting journey is coupled with a unique individual development plan to ensure that every student reaches their pre-determined outcomes.
