Personal Description:

I am a Bachelor of social sciences majoring in psychology and criminology graduate who is passionate about sharing knowledge. I am extremely people-oriente. I love kids and have learnt so much from studying child development. I am hard-working, dedicated and disciplined. I believe for as long as I am alive there is something to learn hence I am constantly on the quest for gaining new knowledge and skills. I am an open book, kind hearted and loving.

Tutoring Experience:

I was a tutor at SmartPrep for 3 years before they closed down where I tutored Afrikaans and English primarily. I was a peer mentor and peer educator at the University of the Free State for 1 year and 3 years respectively. Here I had the opportunity to not only assist and help students academically, but other areas as well to ensure a smooth transition into the University space.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a holistic approach to tutoring, focusing and encouraging not only academic success, but a good mental and physical health. No-one can focus and excell on an empty stomach or when not well-rested. I encourage independence and confidence by allowing the learner/student to try activities and the work on their own as well. I believe that learner/student already has it in them to succeed and just need a little assistance to bring it out of them which is the role I take on. One where the learner/student lead and I follow right by their side working at their pace and areas they most need assistance in. I work hand-in-hand with parents/guardians as well as I believe it takes a team to ensure that the learner's goals are met and keeping them up to date with the learner's progress. I also love practical examples where necessary and adapting to the individual's method of studying.
