Personal Description:

I did my Masters degree in Mathematics in the USA and my Honours degree in Applied Mathematics in SA. I started tutoring privately in 2016 in Johannesburg. I'm committed to helping students get on the path they need to be on whether that may be improving their marks, gaining more confidence and understanding or simply passing maths.

I have taken the GRE exams which are similar to SAT university entrance exams but are for post graduate students. I can provide assistance with preparation for university entrance exams.

Tutoring Experience:

I have previously been a maths tutor at Calibre Education in Bryanston and offer private maths core and AP maths lessons. I've had experience tutoring Advanced Programme maths at St Stithians Girls' College in JHB. I have also taught Calculus recitations as a teaching assistant during my Masters degree in the USA.

Tutoring Approach:

The importance of individual attention to a student is often overlooked and it is simply not practical or realistic in the classroom.

Students are often expected to 'get it right' the first time round, but many times this is not the case. This often leads to doubt and anxiety in tests and exams, and if their problems are not addressed early, it can further inhibit the learning process.

There is usually a lack of fundamentals in each specific maths topic that causes poor performance. I usually first start with any specific problem area that concerns the student, then do revision of all topics if necessary. With a bit of motivation, encouragement and practice, you can get back on track!

All lessons are online usually via skype, zoom or whatsapp calls.
